Mark McCranie has worked for a wide variety of both corporate and legal clients doing investigative work for over 25 years. In 1995, Mark McCranie delivered a lecture on American business to a class of Russian “MBA” students, at the Academy of the National Economy in Moscow. Marks’ investigative and research skills had earned him a place on a Texas team that had been invited to share their business skills at three universities in Moscow. The Academy was touted as the Russian equivalent of the Harvard Business School, but the visit would turn out to be more like a scene from “Miami Vice” or the S & L meltdown of the 1980’s. Born in Miami during the post-war boom years, Mark graduated from the University of Florida with a BSBA, and completed his MBA while at the University of North Dakota. After serving as a Missile Launch Officer for the Strategic Air Command, he started doing real estate site research for the holding company of the Atlantic Banks in Jacksonville.
This led to similar research and investigative work for The Prudential Insurance Company and the CSX Railroad. Mark opened his own consulting and investigative business in 1985, and has since served clients as far away as California, Illinois and New Jersey.
One of Mark’s early successes came when he researched the accounting procedures of a real estate developer’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the financial statements that the CFO had generated. Mark persuaded him to admit to his employer that the CFO had deliberately misstated the financial results for the last two years.
